Show Yourself Some Love with Work/Life Balance

One of the many things I’ve learned from working in Real Estate is that if I don’t draw boundaries between my work and personal life, everything starts to feel like work. When I allow myself to “clock out”, I can really enjoy the time I spend recharging my batteries and sink that energy into another lovely day of house-hunting! Here are some helpful baby steps to help you in establishing some work/life balance of your own!

Start Small. Setting small goals that you can accomplish easily will not only get you started off strong but will also make you feel so good! Finish one thing, start another. Don’t set your goals too lofty to begin with-- the bigger goals take time and LOTS of little steps, so start writing a doable list.

Unplug. Make a habit of spending time away from your phone, or at least practice putting it on silent and leaving it alone for at least an hour or two a day. The constant dinging can be an overwhelming disruption, don’t let it get you down! Plan a fun adventure for yourself, like going to Wine & Roses to hang out with the gorgeous parrots or just taking a long walk around your neighborhood. Whatever you do, get out into some fresh air and have some fun!

Change Your Structure. Find the stressful areas of your life and restructure them. It sounds easy, but I promise you it isn't! Still, finding new habits to override the ones you're struggling with is SO worth it. Try taking an annoying chore and approaching it differently. You may find that just a little adjustment could be all you need to transform a task for the better.

Work/life balance is a HUGE priority for me as a Real Estate agent. I give my full, unbridled energy to all of my amazing clients. I couldn’t do that if I didn’t take good care of my passion and I feel so lucky to be able to help people love where they live every day of the week. I hope these little tips help you do big things!

Until next time!

Visualize a More Positive Life in 2019

The new year is a fresh chance at a new beginning and it’s SO easy to go overboard when making resolutions. When our expectations are out of whack, our whole idea of who we are can get really out of focus. Instead of making resolutions this year, I’m thinking of ways to scale back and give myself a little more room to breathe. When we slow down and take time to restore ourselves, our brains thank us! For me, focusing on the positive is a real game changer.

They say that positive visualization sets the brain up to receive the goodness that a day can bring. In the morning, try picturing your day going perfect in detail. Tell yourself that it’s going to be a great day and tell yourself why. Then, make it happen! Of course, not every day is going to be perfect, but picturing it can get you a good part of the way there.

I hope as you move toward the new year that positive self-talk sneaks into your daily routine and elevates you to heights you never thought you could reach!

Be kind to yourself out there!

Shop Local This Christmas with these AMAZING Downtown Lodi Shops

In a world where it’s much easier to order presents online, the joy of shopping has lost its glow a little bit. I highly recommend heading to downtown Lodi and making a day of it to snap you into the Christmas spirit. Take a break at one of our many amazing tasting rooms to make your day even brighter! I’ve put together a list of a few of my favorite local shops to find goodies for the people I love and maybe just a thing or two for myself!

Stella Mitchell is an upscale boutique featuring designer men & women’s clothing, accessories, & home decor. When I’m buying for someone special, I almost always end up at Stella Mitchell. Their staff is friendly and helpful, but it’s the unique and beautiful items in their shop that keep me coming back for more. Their inventory is always changing, so it pays to return often. I can’t resist!

Crunchy Mama Bear offers small-batch, handmade, chemical-free wellness products at an amazingly affordable price. From beard oil, essential oil rollers for kids, lotions, soaps, & even natural toothpaste--they’ve got you covered! Pop into Boxwood Finch on Lockeford St or visit their online store to order today!

Boxwood Finch is an adorable shop on Lockeford St, just a block or two away from the heart of downtown. This shop has both its feet in the community, offering regular workshops and events that also make great gifts! They provide products from local makers and home decor that pushes all my decorating buttons! If you haven’t been, now’s the time!

Bella’s Closet is all the rage with Lodi ladies and this list would be incomplete without them! You can find a variety of different styles here, which is wonderful! Whether I want something a little more edgy or something comfy, they always seem to have exactly what I’m looking for. Follow them on Instagram to see all the fun new stuff that seems to come in constantly--I can barely keep up!

The Local Collective is a new addition to the downtown scene and I can’t get over how cute it is! Don’t miss it by leaving Sacramento St out of your downtown shopping loop! The Local Collective is a consignment shop that supports local artisans. They’ve done such a great job transforming the space and showcasing some beautiful works of art from jewelry to leather to macrame! If you’re looking for a real-life Etsy experience, this is it!

I hope this list has helped put you on the right track to spreading Christmas cheer with the people you love! Happy Holidays, everyone!

Best Fall Wineries to Visit in Lodi

Fall is the BEST time to visit Lodi wineries. Harvest is over, the weather has finally gotten crisp, and the fireplaces roar at almost every winery in town. Post-harvest is such a great time to indulge (and rest) after a busy season and we take full advantage! Here’s a short list of a just a few wineries we love to visit any time of year.

HARNEY LANE.

Harney Lane is an easy favorite of most locals. The laid back atmosphere and gorgeous grounds make for a truly relaxing wine-tasting adventure. The winery is known for its Tempranillo and Primitivo varieties, but you really can’t go wrong!

KLINKER BRICK.

Klinker Brick Winery boasts 6 Generations and over 100 years of grape-growing. In 1995, after parting ways with Gallo, the winemaking bug bit the Felton family and they haven’t looked back since! They specialize in Old Vines and produce a consistently bold wine that really showcases the grapes in a way only an old-time grape grower can do.

OAK FARM VINEYARDS.

The facilities at Oak Farm may have modern sparkle, but this winery hosts some lovely local history. The old house on the property was built in the 1876 by Williams DeVries, who was a prominent farmer and Justice of the Peace in San Joaquin County. The farm was known throughout the Valley as “one of the most magnificent and beautiful pieces of property within the state” and I would argue that it remains true! The winery itself is contemporary but cozy and the wine is absolutely incredible.

PASKETT WINERY.

The Paskett family winery is one of the newer artisanal growers in Lodi, but they’re not exactly new to the industry. This year marks their 48th year of winemaking for their private label and the 7th harvest year for Paskett Winery, though they opened their doors around this time last year. The Paskett family has poured a lot of love into the land and a lot of wine into my glass! You can find many interesting and different varietals here than at other wineries, which is why I love Paskett!

Every year, Harvest teaches us to appreciate and enjoy what we have. It’s convenient that it all wraps up right before Thanksgiving, so we always have something to be thankful for, whether it’s our husbands returning from the fields or all the wine they bring home or both! This year, I hope it’s just as easy for you to be thankful for all the blessings the year has brought. Happy Holidays!

How to Step Up your Halloween Game and Be the Coolest House on the Block!

We all know there are better neighborhoods than others to go Trick-or-Treating. Whether you live in a good neighborhood or travel to one, everyone has a memory of that one special house that made Halloween a little bit (or a lot) extra. Don’t be a dud! Here are a few simple tips to make sure you’re the coolest house on the block!

BUY A FOG MACHINE. If you’re willing to spend about $50 on a fog machine, you’ll win so many Halloween points from the kids on your block. You could get this fog machine with lights from Amazon delivered in just a few days. Set up your machine in the inside entryway of your home and let the fog rush out to greet your young visitors when you open the door. Keeping the machine inside (and safely away from curious little hands) creates a super spooky effect that will definitely make an impression.

Spring for the good candy! “Healthy” candy may win you points with crunchy Moms but Halloween isn’t their day. When in doubt, go Wonka! The brand makes a variety of fun candies no kid will sneak to the dog.

Dress as something most kids will recognize. Save the clever costumes for adult parties and gussie up as a recognizable character and you’ll be popular for sure!

Get your pets in on the fun. If you’ve got a friendly dog, there’s no need to leave them out of the festivities. Pet costumes are fairly inexpensive and a hilarious way to get the whole family into the holiday spirit.

If wandering around your neighborhood hoarding miniature candies happens to get you inspired to move, give me a call! This summer, my team and I helped 8 families find their home in the Central Valley. That’s a whole lot of moving and shaking! My clients are THE BEST!

Happy Harvest!

Fall has officially arrived in the Central Valley, which means we’re halfway through another gorgeous grape season. For most locals, harvest is a long, late-night life. Work begins in the evening, when the Delta Breeze cools things down a bit, and stretches on until the early morning. My husband, like many other hard-working folks in our area, is scarce to be seen until all the grapes are picked and processed. This is a labor of love for local farmers and we drink to their success year after year! On my side of the coin, the local Real Estate market has been keeping me on my toes--yet another reason to be thankful for wine! A big part of why I began my Real Estate career to help people make big, bold changes and this crisp fall weather is so inspiring!

During this time of year when everyone is working so hard, it's easy to be thankful. Lucky for us, Thanksgiving isn't too far away now. Though the hot days aren't yet over, our mornings and evenings are blissfully chilly. The Central Valley, especially in fall, is such a great place to live. Fall is a busy season for Real Estate, with many folks channeling their inspiration into getting their homes ready for sale before Christmas. I always get the itch to do some moving and shaking around this time of year. If that itch to move has bit you too, please don't hesitate to reach out to me! I'm never ever too busy to help you love where you live (it's my motto, afterall!!). I can't wait to cheers to your success.

Happy Fall, y'all!

5 Local Father’s Day Ideas for Any Brand of Dad

Father’s Day this year means something special. Now that our nest is empty, the precious time we have with our kids means so much more. They’re adults, learning and growing on their own, and that can be hard! Fortunately, there’s silver lining. Grown-up kids mean grown-up fun! The time we have with them is precious, and it’s made us view these little holidays with a lot more care. Lucky for you, we’ve thrown together a list of exciting activities & events for you to give Dad a little dose of fun! No matter what type of Dad you’ve got, there’s a great local spot to suit him. Celebrate the important role of the father figures in our lives by making new memories that will last a lifetime!

#1. Adventure Dad

Take your Dad on an adventure with The Headwater’s Kayak Shop & Boathouse at Lodi Lake! Do yourself a favor and book an extra hour, you’ll thank me later! We’re so grateful to have such a wonderful local resource that allows us to truly connect to the natural beauty of our lovely little town. Jump in a kayak, canoe, or paddle-boat and give your Dad a day he won’t forget! Hop across the street to the Snow White Drive-In for an authentic Lodi Lake experience.

#2. Cultured Dad

Every third Sunday of the month The Crocker Art Museum offers an affordable way to bring art and culture to the whole family with Pay What You Wish Day, which conveniently falls on Father’s Day, hooray! Located in downtown Sacramento, the Crocker is the oldest continuously-operating museum in the West and bound to win you points with Dad! Check out this Downtown Sacramento Restaurant Guide for the inside scoop on where to eat while you’re out on the town.

#3. Boat Dad

Treat Dad to a classy meal on The Delta King, located on the Sacramento River in the heart of Old Sacramento. Featuring local wines and farm-to-fork meals, the Delta King is one of the most lavishly appointed and expensive sternwheel passenger boats ever commissioned. If you’ve got a little extra time and money, you can even book a room and stay the night! We highly recommend spending as much time as possible aboard one of America’s historical treasures.

#4. Music Dad

This year’s Father’s Day Festival in Grass Valley is a legendary showcase of Bluegrass, Old Time, and Gospel music presented by the California Bluegrass Association. Spend your day getting down home with Dad! The festival features an array of vendors, food, wine, & craft beer selection to sustain even the funkiest of fun-loving Dads.

#5. Beer Dad

Dad will be sure enjoy the Lodi Craft Beer Festival on Saturday, June 16th at Lodi Lake Park. Premier local food vendors, live music, top-notch beer, and all for a good cause! 100% of proceeds go to the preservation of Lodi Lake, so put your money where your beer is! Your Dad will enjoy an afternoon toasting himself at the lake, and you can earn extra son/daughter/citizen points by supporting our valuable local resources. Everybody wins!

No matter what you decide to do to celebrate your Father’s Day, I hope you have the best time ever! From my family to yours, have a good one!

Love where you Live!
